Pressure management and increasing or decreasing pressure of liquids, gases, and fluids are important components for determining the overall expansion and contraction of materials used in the industrial space. There can be multiple types and forms of pressure sensors. There are also multiple pressure sensor applications, whether for mobile devices, medical equipment, harsh and corrosive environments, etc.

Digital Pressure Sensor

Differential, gauge, and absolute are different types of measurable pressures. A pressure sensor’s primary function is to convert liquids and gases prevalent in the atmosphere into electric signals. Having a specified result from an array of different types of pressure is something that can be utilized to leverage a measurable output.

By being exposed to ambient conditions, a gauge pressure sensor is used to detect relative atmospheric pressure, as observed in the blood pressure monitor’s measurement.

There are numerous types of pressure sensors based on different application, a few of them being -:

  • Vacuum Sensors

In the vacuum measurement sphere, vacuum sensors play a key role in providing the exacting results for the same. Usually, the ambient atmospheric pressure is much higher than the ones vacuum gauges are used to measure. Pirani vacuum pressure sensors, cold cathode, hot cathode, capacitive sensors, piezo sensors, and pressure switches are few types of vacuum sensors performing various functions.

  • Manometer Sensors

A U shaped model wherein whenever pressure is applied, one side staggers and the other end pressure dips, thus calling for a relatively simple design and greater accuracy level. Pressure measurements in the case of manometer sensors are more differential. The difference between the fluid levels is identical and more accurate than its counterparts, therefore being touted as one of the best pressure sensors out there.

  • Aneroid Barometer Sensors

Such kind of sensor is primarily used by the Defense, Military, and Weather monitoring organizations.  It is highly resistant to corrosion, has a mirror scale, can withstand marine environments, has great precision in terms of movement, and provides an overall substantial way of measuring differential types of pressures.

  • Bourdon Tubes

The bourdon tube is a type of pressure sensor instrument, usually a semicircular or coiled shaped flexible tube. This type has many pressure variations attached and calls to measure medium and high pressure of elements. Solving the bourdon tube’s burden can be a daunting task, but not an impossible one, as it is mostly found in most ultra-high purity (UHP) gauges.

There has been a buyer inclination by witnessing a rise in differential pressure sensors in the global market. The market for such industrial products is changing profusely, and it is a time that key players like Panasonic, Honeywell, Bosch, Siemens are emerging to manufacture devices that are in lieu with digitized development because of pressure sensors and alike.

Furthermore, there has been a lot of customization for specific industries and the latest developments in the manufacturing and distribution of pressure sensors.
