Dating tip No. 1: Don’t correct or admonish on a first date.

Me: “I really don’t have much of anything to complain about. I have my health, a loving family, great friends, a steady job, a roof over my head and a car. When you look at it that way, I really have to say I’m blessed.”

Him: “Please don’t use the word ‘blessed.’ Say ‘fortunate.’”

…

Me: “People at work give me a hard time because I sometimes go to Chick-Fil-A two or three times a week. It’s sort of comfort food for me. If nothing else, the sweet tea reminds me of home.”

Him: “I don’t go to Chick-Fil-A. You do realize, right, that they support the American Family Association? So you’re basically putting money toward an anti-gay agenda.”
